Architects: William Parker Elliot, original plan Robert Mills, Thomas U. Walter, and Edward Clark for completion and additions.  Completed in 1867

The National Museum of American Art contains the oldest federal art collection in the United States.  It includes 250 years of American painting, sculpture, photography, and graphic arts.  The museum is housed in the old U.S. Patent Office Building and shares the building with the National Portrait Gallery.
