Declaration of Independence

On July 4, 1776, the Declaration of Independence represented the birth of a new nation as it declared the separation of the thirteen colonies from England.  The document was drafted by Thomas Jefferson who based its structure from the philosophies of John Locke as well as other English and French ideologies.
