Elfreth's Alley
The nation's oldest, unchanged and continuously inhabited residential street.  Named for Jeremiah Elfreth, owner of several properties, it was home to carpenters, printers and other craftsmen.  Walking down the 6 foot wide cobblestone street past brick rowhouses provides a glimpse into the 18th and early 19th centuries.
